This is just a test run of the engine. Whilst working on another title, "Dreadhead" - which focuses on enemies chasing the player in a top-down world - I thought about the idea of creating a game which, essentially, can play itself using these AIs. To make this demo a bit more - well, demonstrative, and also to allow myself to control the instances a lot more whilst working on them, I've made it so you must place down the civilians, police, heroes and villains.
Civilians will generally just walk around, although some may go bad and attack others, thereby becoming criminals. Criminals will chase down and attack civilians. If a civilian survives three encounters with a criminal, they will become a hero - if a criminal kills three civilians (or police), they will become a villain. Police will attack criminals and also fight villains. Villains and heroes will fight each other, and are equally matched.
As I expand on the game, more types of characters will be included, and the time will become more important. I also hope to be able to use this as a testing ground for creating the "living, breathing" environments that are becoming more and more popular in games. I'm posting this up as I'm not sure if anyone has tried this with Game Maker yet, as well as to maybe get some feedback and just show people what I've done. I don't think it's particularly "fun" yet as a game/simulation, although I do get a bit of a kick out of it!
