CONTROLS (Player 1)
W, A, S, D = move
[Space] = attack/shield

CONTROLS (Player 2)
numpad 4, 5, 6, 8 = move
Arrow keys = move (not recommended; can cause unresponsiveness)
[Enter] = attack/shield

CONTROLS (Players 3 & 4)
Joystick = move
Button 2 = shoot
Button 10 = pause menu

OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Click "Brawl" to begin playing right away.
- Click "Rules" to tweak the parameters of the match.
- Click "Special Brawl" to choose between an assortment of crazy variations.
- Click "Normal Brawl" at the top of the Special Brawl menu to reset the settings.
- Press F1 to bring up this help file, and [Esc] to close it.
- Press F4 to toggle fullscreen mode.
- Press F9 to capture a screenshot.
- Press [Esc] to bring up the pause menu.
- Press [Esc] at the main menu to exit the game.

GAMEPLAY
- The more damage you take, the farther you'll fly when you get hit.
- Dodge or shield to evade enemy attacks, all while carefully timing and aiming your own.
- Grab items, try mid-air combos, and devise other advanced strategies!

MOVES/TECHNIQUES
- Press and hold the attack button without holding any directional keys to activate your personal shield.
- The shield is limited in energy, but gradually recharges while de-activated.
- Attack while holding left or right to shoot fireballs. These can also be aimed diagonally by holding the appropriate directional keys.
- Attack while holding up to do an uppercut. This move is great for recovery and does damage, but prevents you from jumping any further.
- Attack while holding down to do a special collision-based attack (Mario Tornado or Luigi Cyclone).
- Double-tap the down button to drop through semi-solid platforms.
- Some ledges are grabbed automatically when approached. Press up after ledge-grabbing to stand up or press down to let go.

ITEMS
- Super mushroom: makes you larger, increasing your mass but also making you easier to hit (attacks become stronger but slower)
- Heart container: recovers up to 25% damage
- Rapidfire: temporarily increases your maximum rate of fire
- Smash ball: this legendary item contains tremendous power: use wisely!
- Assist trophy: break open to summon an ally from within!
