The goal of the game is to shoot the Reliant (Khan) before it blows you (Kirk) up. Don't forget to shoot at Khan's photon torpedoes!
There are many modes to play. Five of the modes involve Klingons. Four modes include invisible ships. In other words, typical Atari fare.
