Fo-kux Stamina Engine
The perfect starting point of any platforming adventure!

The Fo-kux Stamina Engine is the best place to start if you want to make a platforming game in Game Maker 8. We have setup everything from the platforming movement to the heath of the player.

Requirements:
Intermediate knowledge of Game Maker
Game Maker 8 pro or higher
Maybe a little knowledge of gml

Stamina mechanic:
While this engine can be changed to support any kind of platforming game, it features a very special game mechanic. Stamina, in this engine, controls how fast and how high the player can move and jump. He or she must slow down and think about how they can progress before moving. Charging into any situation is not advised. However, this engine also features something called "charged dash." To do a charged dash you must let your stamina fill to 50% or more, then when you start moving you will be able to run faster and jump higher. You will continue to dash until you let go of the movement key or run into something.

Other info:
If you would like to do cutscenes with this engine and you are still a beginner with Game Maker I would recommend using a splash video screen.
Monsters still need to be added by the user but obj_target has a prebuilt health variable and bar that would make a good starting place.
If obj_player is in contact with more than one ghost platform at a time he will fall through, if you use the player mask I made to be the correct size you will not have this problem.
