Energy Saving Tips
1. Fix defective plumbing or dripping faucets. A single dripping hot water faucet can waste 212 gallons of water a month.
That not only increases water bills, but also increases the gas or electric bill for heating the water.
2. Lighting CFLs can give the same amount and quality of light as incandescent bulbs, yet use one-third the amount of energy and last ten times longer.
A CFL can save over $30 in electricity costs over the lamp's lifetime compared to an incandescent bulb.
3. Turn off lights, TVs and other appliances when they are not needed.
4. In the average U.S. home, lighting accounts for about 20% more of the electric bill.
5. Lower the height of light fixtures if possible to increase usable light.
6. Implement a group re-lamping schedule, and re-lamp at 70% of rated lamp life.
Lamps that run longer than 70% of their rated life actually cost more in terms of energy use.
7. Replace flickering, dim and burned-out lamps
