This is the demo of Surreptitious, a game I have been developing for the past 6 months with an unregistered version of GM. It was one of first projects, and I have used it to conduct most of my Game Maker experimentation, as well as hone my skills.

It is a stealth top-down shooter, in which the objective is to get from point A to B, or accomplish various tasks. Usually, the more tactical approach is to sneak around enemies, but you will also be provided with some cool firepower (who doesn't like AK-47s? 😁).

This demo only contains 5 levels. I have made a few more, but, due to larger file size, longer loading time, and some bugs, have not included them.

The engine and a lot of the graphics are complete, right now I'm just ironing out some bugs, so your input is important!

The full game will contain a level editor, which already works 😊 I just need to add more features to it.

Controls:

Arrow keys for movement
Holding Control will increase movement speed
Space to shoot and stab
Digit 1 = Equip Knife
Digit 2 = Equip Handgun
Digit 3 = Drop Flashbang
Digit 4 = Equip AK47 or Shotgun
Digit 5 = Drop Grenade
R key restarts level
N key skips to next level
B key turns off blood
M key returns to Mission Selection screen
H key hacks nearby security cameras and laser tripwires


Problems I know about and am trying to fix:

Enemies getting stuck in walls
The AI is somewhat bad
Sometimes pressing two arrows at once messes the sprite and/or movement up
